From the cover flap:
"Lebbeus Woods: Experimental Architecture" accompanies an exhibition of the same title at Carnegie Museum of Art's Heinz Architectural Center. The show is the largest presentation of Woods's work ever mounted in the United States. Featured in this book are more than a dozen of Woods's projects, ranging from his first foray into architectural experimentation in the 1970s to his most recent meditations on the nature of space, and including proposals for Berlin, Havana, New York, Sarajevo, and Taichung City. His installation for the Carnegie is covered as well. Tracy Myers, Curator of Architecture at Carnegie Museum of Art and organizer of the show, analyzes and synthesizes the many complex ideas in Woods's remarkable oeuvre for the first time. Woods narrates a sequence of projects, dating from 1990 to the present, through which he has investigated a consistent, if evolving, set of ideas and challenges. Karsten Harries, Professor of Philosophy at Yale University, places Woods's work within a long tradition of resistance to architectural convention. Collectively, the essays provide the most fully articulated and richly contextualized understanding of Woods's career yet published."
